Privacy policy

Protecting your data matters to us. This policy explains which personal data we process on strom-los.ch, klangruhe.ch and soundsilent.com, what we use it for and what rights you have.

Principles

  • No tracking cookies, no analytics tools, no advertising and no social media plugins.
  • No content from third-party servers: fonts, images and scripts are served exclusively from our own server.
  • The website and our mail server are operated in Switzerland.
  • We do not sell data and do not pass it on for advertising purposes.

Hosting and server log files

The website runs on a server of our hosting provider Hostfactory in Switzerland. With every request, the server automatically stores technical information in log files:

  • IP address, date and time of the request
  • requested page or file and amount of data transferred
  • browser, operating system and the previously visited page (referrer), if transmitted

This data is used solely for secure and stable operation (e.g. defending against attacks, troubleshooting). It is not combined with other data and is deleted automatically after a few months.

Cookies

We only use technically necessary cookies without which the website would not work. They contain no advertising or tracking information and are not passed on to third parties:

  • “strom_los_ag_session” – keeps your session (e.g. selected language, sign-in to Sound Silent). Expires after 2 hours of inactivity.
  • “XSRF-TOKEN” – protects our forms against misuse (cross-site request forgery). Expires after 2 hours.

We do not set tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. If you close the cookie notice with “OK”, your browser remembers this locally (in browser storage, not as a cookie); this information is not transmitted to us.

Contact form, Sound Silent sign-up and licence requests

If you write to us via a form or by email, we process your details (e.g. name, email address, message, requested offer) to answer your request and to handle any offer or contract. Form entries are delivered to us by email.

Licence requests for Sophy are additionally stored in our database (name, email, institution, role, requested applications and workstations, billing address, message, any uploaded proof and the IP address to prevent misuse) in order to check, issue and manage the licence.

Sound Silent (members’ area)

Sound Silent (in German: Klang Ruhe), a product of Strom-los AG, is available at soundsilent.com and klangruhe.ch; the controller is Strom-los AG (see above). For members of Sound Silent we keep a user account. For this we process:

  • name, email address, language setting and a password stored in encrypted form
  • address and – optionally – phone number for invoices and questions
  • subscription details (term, tier, payment method, unlocked areas)
  • time and IP address of your acceptance of the terms of use (as proof)
  • usage data: number, time and IP address of sign-ins (sign-in log), which programmes were played how often, favourites and view settings

We use this data to provide access, invoice the subscription, contact you if needed and improve the offer.

Experience reports: if you voluntarily submit an experience report, it may contain information about your well-being, sleep or pain. This is particularly sensitive health data. We process it only with your explicit consent, exclusively internally for evaluation, never publish it and delete it on request. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

Lya (avatar at the bottom left of Sound Silent): questions you ask Lya are stored together with your user account, but without your IP address (question, account, language, time, whether you have an active subscription, your rating of the answer) so that Lya can learn. Lya answers exclusively from our own knowledge on our server in Switzerland – no data is passed to AI providers or other third parties. Please do not include names or health data in questions that you do not want to share. The conversation history stays only in your browser (until you close the window). Voice input (voluntary, only after your consent in the conversation): your browser converts your speech into text – depending on the browser via the manufacturer’s service (e.g. Google for Chrome, Microsoft for Edge, Apple for Safari); their privacy policies apply. We only receive the recognised text. Reading aloud uses the voices of your device or browser.

Online payment (Stripe)

You pay subscriptions online via the payment service provider Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., Dublin, Ireland). Stripe receives your name, email address, the amount and your payment data for this purpose and processes them as an independent controller in accordance with its privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy); processing in the USA is possible. We only receive the payment confirmation from Stripe (amount, payment method, time), no card numbers.

Sending emails

We send emails (e.g. invitations, password links, replies) via our own mail server in Switzerland. For delivery to certain mail providers (e.g. Microsoft Outlook/Hotmail), the delivery service SMTP2GO may be used; it only receives the information required for delivery (sender, recipient, message).

Disclosure to third parties

We only pass on personal data where this is necessary for operation (hosting, email delivery, payment processing), where you have consented or where we are legally obliged to do so. Our service providers may only process the data on our behalf and according to our instructions.

Retention and deletion

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the respective purpose. We delete Sound Silent accounts after the subscription ends or at your request. Data we must retain for legal reasons (e.g. accounting records for 10 years) is deleted once these periods have expired. You can delete your Sound Silent account yourself at any time under «My subscription». As a record, we then keep in a locked archive for 10 years who signed in when and from where (account and subscription details, acceptance of the terms of use, sign-in log, programmes played); feedback containing health information is deleted completely.

Data security

Data is transmitted in encrypted form (HTTPS). Passwords are only stored in encrypted (hashed) form. We protect your data against loss and unauthorised access with appropriate technical and organisational measures.

Your rights

You have the right to request information about the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to processing, to withdraw consent you have given and to receive your data in a common format. Please contact zurich@strom-los.ch.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, www.edoeb.admin.ch); persons in the EU with their competent supervisory authority.

Legal basis and changes

We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) – in particular to perform a contract, on the basis of our legitimate interest in secure operation or with your consent.

We will update this policy if our website or the legal requirements change. The version published here applies.
